Native to Utah, Blakefound her connection to music as a self-taught outlet from outside circumstances at an earlyage, going as far as calling music her safespace. From playing open mics at cafes regularly,ukulele and guitar in hand, Shanin became an overnight local celebrity through her affirmativelyricism, flourishing an enthusiastic fan base from the ground up.Having her daughter at the age of seventeen, Shanin knew the road ahead would be an uphillbattle as a single mom and rising artist, yet music remained her constant. Posting a cover onFacebook in 2014, the video became an internet sensation, populating hundreds of thousandsof views and spreading Blake’s music nationwide, gaining traction and leading to the release ofher 2018 debut album,Soulchild. Releasing a collaboration with popular lo-fi producer Jazzinuf in 2019, Shanin’s numbersskyrocketed again, quickly reaching 6 million streams on Spotify alone. Following up the singlewith herLionessalbum and "Naked Sunshine" EP, her streams have only grown from then. Hermost recent singles, "Bad Btch Energy" and "Energy Vampires," opened doors to her beingscouted for America’s Got Talent, walkingthe runway at New York Fashion Week, major brandcollaborations, and a number of large scale music festivals.Throughout her rapid rise to fame, Shanin has still managed to never lose sight of her roots as ayoung girl with big dreams who grew up listening to jazz and psychedelic60’s rock, whichinfluence the music she makes today.
