From playing open mics at cafes regularly,ukulele and guitar in hand, Shanin became an overnight local celebrity through her affirmativelyricism, flourishing an enthusiastic fan base from the ground up.Having her daughter at the age of seventeen, Shanin knew the road ahead would be an uphillbattle as a single mom and rising artist, yet music remained her constant. Posting a cover onFacebook in 2014, the video became an internet sensation, populating hundreds of thousandsof views and spreading Blake’s music nationwide, gaining traction and leading to the release ofher 2018 debut album,Soulchild. Releasing a collaboration with popular lo-fi producer Jazzinuf in 2019, Shanin’s numbersskyrocketed again, quickly reaching 6 million streams on Spotify alone. Following up the singlewith herLionessalbum and "Naked Sunshine" EP, her streams have only grown from then.
