Nico Vega formed when singer Aja Volkman met Michael Peña and Rich Koehler at an open mic. However, when Pena’s (End Of Watch, Narcos: Mexico, Crash, Ant-Man) acting career exploded, his schedule forced him to leave the band. Dan Epand stepped in on drums. Then following a 6 year hiatus, Nico Vega has returned with a sultry yet frenetic new single, “$5” just released on March 22nd with a new album slated to be called “Make it Out Alive” (produced by drummer Dan Epand) later in the year. This marks the first time in the band's history that Michael Peña will join the band on his original instrument of bass. Thematically, the album represents a return to the soulful rawness and contentious battle to reclaim a sense of self-confidence and individuality following such a seismic life shift.
